Margaret Anne McCarter - Margaret McCarter passed away peacefully in Petaluma with her family by her side on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Devoted wife, for 62 years, to the late Roy McCarter. Dedicated mother of George McCarter and his wife Anita of Petaluma, Bob McCarter and his wife Kathy of Santa Rosa, and Jim McCarter and his wife Cindy of Petaluma. Loving grandmother of Cheryl Breazeale, Robert McCarter, Jennifer Kennedy, Jeffrey McCarter, Erika Goodman, and Brendan McCarter. Cherished great grandmother of 9. Dear sister of Evans Woodhouse of AZ and predeceased by 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Born Margaret Anne Woodhouse in Houston, TX. As a toddler she moved with her family to El Paso where she was raised on the family dairy. It was there she met Roy McCarter and they were married in 1939. Together, with their first two sons, they moved to Petaluma in 1945 to the McCarter Family Ranch. She loved working side by side with Roy in the poultry business, and being a homemaker while raising their 3 boys. After her boys began high school she went to work at JC Penney and enjoyed that for 12 years. Margaret loved to work in her yard and prepare family meals where she displayed her southern hospitality and above all she loved spending time with her family. Margaret was, to all who knew her, a very quiet, kind, gentle and patient lady who was an excellent listener and saved her opinions for those who asked. She will be deeply missed.
