Margaret J. Soberanes

Margaret J. Soberanes - Passed away January 24, 2008 peacefully at the home in Petaluma where she was born on July 20, 1911. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Rose Soberanes. Beloved sister of Connie Poncia of Petaluma and was preceded in death by her siblings, Bob Soberanes, Tom Soberanes and Bill Soberanes. Loving aunt of Kit and Robert Furukawa, Bill and Dawn Seiler, Margaret and Burt Hutten and the late Frances McCullough and Bob Soberanes. Also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews. A native of Petaluma, CA., Age 96 years. Margaret, a member of a pioneer Petaluma family taught in Petaluma City Schools for 41 years. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer in local elementary schools for 13 years. Her father, Edward, was a veteran of the Spanish American War. Margaret was a faithful member of St. Vincent de Paul Church as well as a member of AAUW, AARP and the Retired Teachers Association. At the request of Margaret, there will be no services. Private interment, Soberanes Family Plot, Calvary Cemetery, Petaluma, CA. The family prefers memorials be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952.
