Maria Farinha

It is with heavy hearts and appreciation for a life well lived the family of Maria Farinha announces her peaceful passing at 98 years old of natural causes in her Petaluma home on October 4, 2022.

Maria was born on July 9, 1924 in Terceira, Azores, Portugal. She is predeceased by her husband Jose Farinha, a daughter Tina Melo, a grandson Johnny Melo, her parents João Gomes de Borba and Maria do Egito Borba, two brothers, and a sister. Maria will be lovingly remembered by her surviving 3 daughters and 2 sons Maria Miller, Fernanda Gerhardt, Irene Correia, Arthur Farinha, Al Farinha, her grandchildren Jimmy, Michael, Erica, Michele, Dean, Art, Cherie, Richie, Kris, Jacob, her great grandchildren Nicholas, Andreas, Ruby, Kylie, Aria, Dominic, Adeline, Ava, Luca, Jaeden, and her sister Rose Bertao. Son and daughter in-laws, John Melo, Tony Miller, Wayne Gerhardt, Aurelio Correia, Magda Bettencourt and Karreen Farinha.

Maria and her late husband Jose Farinha along with their children moved to this country from Terceira, Azores in 1968 settling in Petaluma where she lived for 54 years. She was modest and thoughtful, a devoted wife, loving mother, and a cherished grandmother better known as Vovó. Her greatest treasures was her family and her devotion to the catholic faith. She will be greatly missed.

Relatives & Friends are kindly invited to attend the Rosary and Funeral services.

A Visitation will be Held at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crematory on Monday, October 17th from 5:00-8:00PM with a Rosary at 7:00PM.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 18th at 11:00AM followed by a Graveside Service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery
