Maria Luiza Gagnon

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing our beloved mother Maria Luiza Gagnon, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 at the age of 83, surrounded by all her children and grandchildren. Loving mother of Johnny, Jeff, Monique and Michelle and loving stepmother of Debbie, Doug and Donna Lynn. Cherished grandmother of seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Maria is preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul Gagnon, her parents’ Eneas and Luiza Da Cunha and brother Henrique. She is survived by her brother Al Da Cunha and sister Angela Zerbe and several nieces and nephews. Maria dedicated her life to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, faith, cherished family traditions and amazing family recipes. Maria was a woman of unwavering strength and grace.

We would like to thank all the dedicated doctors and nurses from Providence Medical Oncology Group and the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer and Hematology Clinic for their compassionate care of our mom. We will be forever grateful for the love and care you showed her. Family prefers that memorials be made in Maria’s honor to UCSF Hematology, Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Program (giving.ucsf.edu) or the MDS Foundation, Myelodysplastic Syndromes Foundation (mds-foundation.org).

Visitation and Rosary will be on Monday, April 14, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with the recitation of rosary at 6:00 P.M. at Parent Sorensen Mortuary, Petaluma, CA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church, Petaluma, CA.
