Maria L. "Lou" Shepherd

MARIA L. "LOU" SHEPHERD passed away peacefully in Petaluma, CA on May 27, 2015, three weeks shy of her 85th birthday. Dearly devoted wife of the late Shep Shepherd. Loving mother of Mike Shepherd (Margaret) of Petaluma and loving and caring grandmother to Nathan Lessley (Jesse) of NY, Carly Shepherd and Andy Shepherd of Petaluma. Predeceased by daughter Debra Lessley. Lou met Shep in her native New Mexico where he was stationed in the Navy. They shared 60 years together before his passing last year. While in the Navy, Lou and Shep lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico; San Diego and Petaluma, California; Honolulu, Hawaii; Whidby Island-Washington State and the Philippines. In their later years, they enjoyed train trips to Reno and car vacations to New Mexico and Washington State. Lou was very proud to be a member of the Model A Ford Club-Sonoma A's, Adobe Antique Car Club, Petaluma Woman's Club, Petaluma Garden Club, Petaluma Quilt Guild, Heritage Homes of Petaluma, Petaluma Museum Assn., and Red Hat Purple Dress Society. We would like to thank St. Francis Residential Care Facility for their loving care and to Hospice of Petaluma for their support during Mom's final days. We invite family and friends to a Visitation on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Hospice of Petaluma or your favorite charity. Private Interment: Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma.
