Marian M. Bauer - Marian M. Bauer, born Marian Louise McCubbin, passed away at home in Petaluma on May 20, 2008, from complications from leukemia, which she had bravely battled since 2002. She was 62 years old.
Marian was born in Walla Walla, Washington on June 25, 1945, and grew up in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. She was the daughter of Charles Leander McCubbin and Winifred Platzoeder McCubbin of Milton-Freewater.
Marian had been retired since 2000, after a successful career working in public education, starting as a counselorâ??s secretary for Petaluma Senior High School and working up to the position of district business manager of Old Adobe Union School District. She also worked for a few years in the mid-80â??s for Walla Walla School District near the area where she grew up.
No services will be held per Marianâ??s request. Memorial donations may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.leukemia-lymphoma.org) or the Stanford Blood and Marrow Transplant Program (bmt.stanford.edu). She is survived by her loving husband Jim, son Kevin Beltzner and his wife April of Murrieta; son Chris Beltzner and wife Andrea and granddaughter Lucy of Portland, Oregon; stepdaughter Nicole Bauer of Petaluma; and sister Helen Krieger and husband Ken of Hillsboro, Oregon. Her two cats, Zip and Mitzi, will also miss her dearly.
Marian was a loving wife and mother who knew how to enjoy life and help others do the same. She was a great conversationalist. She believed in accentuating the positive and not dwelling on the negative, which she encouraged others to do as well.
