Marian Elizabeth (Bullock) Hicks
February 14, 1920 — April 24, 2016
Marian Elizabeth (Bullock) Hicks went to her permanent home on April 24th. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Leslie E Hicks and daughter Janet Ann Montgomery-Read. She is survived by daughters Elizabeth Schaffer (Alan), Sharon Swicker, and Wanda Calvert and sons Larry Hicks and Loren Hicks.
Our mother was a very loving and compassionate woman. She was the mother of six children, eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was the best mother and grandmother any of us could have asked for. Family was her first priority.
Marian was a devout Christian and devoted member of the Two Rock Presbyterian Church family for 53 years. She worked as both an elder and a deacon. She sang in the church choir for years and helped on countless fund raisers. She truly lived her life here as a missionary to any in need.
Mom's passion was always sewing. She made lap robes for all the convalescent homes in Petaluma All of her friends and family received one of her homemade quilts. She made most of the clothes for her girls as they were growing up. She also loved to crochet and gave afghans to the church to be sold as fundraisers. She also loved canning fruits and vegetables and making jams and jellies. Her other passion was reading. She read every day for as long as we can remember. When she finished her books, she passed them on so her friends and family could enjoy them as well.
She will be greatly missed by all her family, church family and the surrounding community.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Two Rock Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to attend. She did request that no flowers be sent; rather donate to the Two Rock Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to your favorite charity. Celebration of Life
