Marian Misako Ishizu

Marian Ishizu, age 104, passed away peacefully at her home in Petaluma, California, leaving behind a legacy of gentleness, quiet strength, and unwavering love. To live more than a century is extraordinary, but those who knew Marian will tell you that it wasn’t the length of her life that made it remarkable—it was the way she lived it.

Marian’s home was a place where everyone felt welcome. She had a way of welcoming you that made you feel at home, a way of smiling that made you feel seen, and a way of caring that made you feel cherished. She enjoyed sharing her stories and loved a good laugh which was a testament to her quick wit and playful sense of humor.

She is survived by her sons Wesley, Ken (Pat), and Chris (Donna), who were the pride of her life. Marian adored her grandchildren—Christina (Nicholas), Alyssa, Mark, Steven (Averi), Ryan (Shelby) Ishizu, Megan (Justin), Natalie (Kaden), Brandon, Kimberly (Tyler) and Michelle (Mark)-each one holding a special place in her heart. Her joy only grew with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Luthien, Scipio, Everly, Autumn, Penelope and Aria who brought her laughter and light in her later years.

Marian’s long life was shaped by resilience, humility, and a deep devotion to her family. She taught by example—through kindness, patience, and a quiet grace that never demanded attention but always inspired it. Her family will carry her lessons forward, grateful for every moment they shared with her.

A memorial service honoring Marian’s life will be held on May 2nd, 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Enmanji Buddhist Temple, 1200 Gravenstein Hwy.S in Sebastopol, California. Her family invites all who knew her to join in remembering a woman whose love and presence will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
