Marianna Ball Trowbridge - Marianna Ball Trowbridge, born in New York City on December 16, 1925, to Frank Pennington Ball and Marion Ferguson Ball, passed away peacefully in Petaluma, CA, in the evening on Sunday, May 6, 2012. She was known to her family and friends as Mari. In 1926 she moved to Greenwich, CT, with her parents and two siblings where she resided until the age of 30. In 1956, she married Gardiner Trowbridge II, with whom she subsequently moved to California and later had 3 children. First residing in Berkeley, then in Marin County for the majority of her life, together Mari and Gar raised their 4 children and many, many household pets. A Mass in Memoriam will take place on Tuesday, May 15, 2:00 p.m. at St Vincent de Paul Church, 35 Liberty St, Petaluma, CA 94952. Following the service, family will receive friends at the home of Jennifer & Marty Magliulo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to COTS (Committee on the Shelterless), PO Box 2744, Petaluma, CA, 94953. Over her 86 1/2 years of life, Mari was a huge animal lover, voracious reader, daily consumer of anything chocolate, fan of Bingo, slots & horseracing, movie goer, Opera buff, Bunco player, gym rat, bowler, world traveler, devout catholic, tennis player, dollhouse decorator, Harley rider, Scrabble player extraordinaire, sports enthusiast, and so much more ... but first and foremost, she was an incredibly loving and generous person, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Mari was a wonderful friend to so many. If you had the opportunity to know her, you were very fortunate. Mari had a great sense of humor and she loved to laugh!
