Born near Klamath Falls, OR, in 1929, she died at home from a long illness on February 26, 2013. She was the younger daughter of Jethro and Marie Freund. Growing up on working ranches, she developed an early love for many kinds of animals. Her greatest love was for dogs and they became the focus of much of her life. She became a successful breeder and exhibitor of champion canines together with operating a dog and cat boarding kennel. When not enjoying one of her dogs, she could be found on horseback or caring for her collection of Japanese koi fish. Marie enjoyed getting out by camping out in the North Coast redwoods and the Sierra Nevada. She walked across both the San Francisco-Oakland Vay Bridge and the Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge on their respective opening days in 1939 and 2003.
Marie and Leonard were married for almost forty years and had two sons, Leonard and Robert (Marlynn) Millick. She married Don Sederberg after Leonard's death and they lived happily until Don's death. She added Douglas, Milan and Jean to the family. Marie leaves grandsons Leonard John, Gregory and Jeffrey Millick together with numerous relatives in Nevada.
She was a graduate of Oakland Technical High School Class of 1947. She was the owner and operator of a professional boarding kennel since 1973. She was a member of the County Wide Dog Training Club.
