Marie B. Poncia

Marie B. Poncia - Marie was born in Novato, CA on April 13, 1924 and passed away at home in Petaluma on July 6, 2007 from COPD at age 83. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Senn. She had two sisters who preceded her in death, Anita Garrity of Clearlake and Emma Wasilewski of Redwood City. She had numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was married in 1942 to William Poncia, a Tomales rancher. Willie passed away in 1997 after 55 years of marriage. She was the wonderful, loving mother of Bill Poncia Jr. (Debby) of Rohnert Park and Cheryl Braga (Art) of Petaluma. She was the beloved grandmother of Marty Braga (Sarah) of Santa Rosa, Michael Braga (Rachael) of Cotati, Mindy Braga Jones (Jamie) of Petaluma and Celia Frizzell (Brad) of Texas, and her step-grandson, Tyler Suit of Rohnert Park. Marie was also blessed with several adoring great-grandchildren; Gianna, Isabella, Nico, Lauren, Abigail, Ely, Electra and Dakota. She and her husband operated a dairy ranch on Tomales Road for 38 years and moved to Petaluma in 1980 after retiring. Besides her ranchers-wife chores, Marie worked as a relief clerk for the Tomales Post Office from 1966 â?? 1980. She and Willie were members of the Petaluma Golf and Country Club for many years. She was a volunteer for both the Petaluma Valley Hospital Auxiliary and Alphabet Soup Thrift Store in Petaluma. Marie enjoyed playing the accordion, bridge, golf and traveling. She also enjoyed the companionship to two special gentlemen, Tom Foster and Ralph Thompson, who predeceased her. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy, Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA. Visitation will be held at the mortuary on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Private entombment, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Petaluma, CA.
