Marilyn J. Vitali

Died peacefully surrounded by family at home in Petaluma, CA, August 26, 2017. Beloved wife of Ned A. Vitali for 60 years. Loving mother of the late Lisa Vitali Kilmartin (Jack), Annette Vitali-Thompson (Kevin) and Jeannine Vitali-Schulz (Harold).  Devoted grandmother of Hunter Schulz (Nicolle), Chelsea Thompson, Benjamin Schulz (Shelby), Evan Kilmartin and Brian Schulz; great grandmother of Aria, Hayden and Heath Schulz.

Dear sister of Julie Crowley (James); sister-in-law of Betty Pengelly (Virgil) and Irene Draper (Ron).  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was born on Sept. 22, 1934 to Harold and Fern Swartout in Mitchell, South Dakota. She moved to San Francisco as a child and was graduated from Mission High School. Marilyn and Ned raised their family in Pacifica, and after retirement, spent time between Nevada City and Sonoma County. She worked many years as a bank teller, and later as a school aide, and was a lifelong community volunteer.  Marilyn was devoted to her family, friends and faith. She was a member of St. Peter Church in Pacifica and St. James Church in Petaluma.

Family and friends are invited to the Vigil Service, Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 7:00 PM at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma and to the Funeral Mass, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma, CA (private interment in Grass Valley, Ca).

The family request memorials be made to Community Employment Services, 1242 Market St., 1st Floor, San Francisco, CA 94102 (a nonprofit providing support services to adults with developmental disabilities).
