Our beloved Mark Patrick Sichi, 61, was called home to heaven on June 24, 2017. His passing was sudden and unexpected. God, family and friends were Mark’s top priorities throughout his beautiful life. Mark was a devout Catholic, with a deep faith that seemed to grow stronger every year. He made numerous pilgrimage trips in honor of the Virgin Mary to his special place, Medjugorje, Bosnia. Mark was a dedicated, selfless and loving Dad and Grandpa (“Nonno”). He treasured his children: twin sons Ryan (Melissa), Cory (Meggie), and daughter Haley. He had boundless energy and a great sense of humor, which made him an incredible Nonno to his 5 adorable Grand kids: Allie, Ben, Charlotte, Graham and Bella.
Mark was born in Encino, CA on Dec. 2, 1955. He was the 5th out of 7 children born to his loving parents, Gordon and Jackie Sichi. Mark felt blessed by his special childhood, growing up in Woodland Hills, CA and living on Lubao Av, which became Candy Cane Lane during the Christmas Holidays. He attended St. Mel School through the 8thgrade, then Parkman Junior High and Taft High School. Mark was always a special and fun loving brother to his siblings and their spouses: Gordon (Suzie), Greg, Gaye (Bill), Mike, Mitch (Kathy), and Melanie (Mitch R.). Mark was always up for an adventure, and throughout his childhood years, he developed his love of camping, fishing and baseball. Mark married Cathy Wild on January 3, 1981. They lived in Alaska, where Mark attended training to become a heavy equipment mechanic. In 1982, they welcomed twins Ryan and Cory. The young family relocated to Penngrove, CA in 1986. Mark eventually opened his own highly successful business, a partnership called High Trek in 1991. Their family was blessed once again with the birth of their sweet baby girl, Haley, in 1993. Mark sold his business in 1998. In 2003, He went to work for Xtreme Mfg. Mark was highly respected by his colleagues, especially for his talents in technical expertise, sales and product development. He had an incredible work ethic and traveled frequently around the country, Canada or Europe to consult or sell special machines. Besides being an expert at work, Mark was a charismatic and shining star with people and life. He was a natural born teacher and conducted many valuable training sessions for team members at work, as well as customers and dealers.
In his personal life, as well as work, Mark was a caring mentor and friend to all. He accomplished this beautifully, through his outstanding example of the way he lived his life, as well as a phone call or visit with his always wise suggestions and encouragement, if he thought he could help. Mark was a great cheerleader! He went out of his way, above and beyond the call,to be there for people. He was very generous with his time, being on hand wherever he was needed. He delighted in spending time with his kids, and playing with his Grand kids and babysitting them whenever he could. Mark was like a rock of support through the sad times, always ready with his love, prayers and support. He made the constant effort to “show up,”to be there for his friends and family at their times of celebration and sadness, attending numerous weddings, church sacraments, birthday parties, and memorials. Mark was super fun and liked to playfully tease. His positive energy and enthusiasm for God, those he loved and life in general, was inspirational to all of his especially blessed family and friends. Mark had a dearly loved lifetime tradition of camping in Lake Tahoe. This started as a child, and continued through his kids’ childhood, and now Mark’s Grand kids love coming. There are, generally, up to 35 or 40 family and friends on hand to camp, boat, swim, hike, cook and play together for the week long celebration. Our family always took great pleasure in Mark’s contribution to our Tahoe trips, the highlights of which were unlimited boating and water sports and his annual homemade spaghetti and meatball night! Mark loved Italy, cherished his one-half Italian roots, and was a fabulous cook! Mark was a huge fan of the San Francisco Giants, wore his team’s clothes and hats proudly, and loved family outings to Candlestick or Petco Parks.
Mark is also survived by the Mom of his amazing kids, Cathy Wild. In addition, Mark is survived by his own sweet Mom, Jackie Sichi Krzmarzick and Stepdad, Kris Krzmarzick. Besides his siblings and 3 of their spouses, Mark leaves behind his loving nephews and nieces: Tom (Cindy), Cielo (Erin), Nathan (Suzi), Mike (Monique), Chris (Jisethe), Heather, Gina (Koko), Shauna, Matt, Nikki (Steven), Joe, Ashley, Paige and Andy. Mark’s precious great nephews and nieces are: Ayla, Tenaya, Meison, Lili, Nico, Katie, Sara, Jacilyn, Layla, Dezi and Lucci, with baby Wyatt on the way. Mark will also be missed by Uncle Floyd and his Sichi and Castello cousins. He also leaves behind the Wild clan: Betty (Mom. Grandma, and Great Grandma) her children: Mike, Mark, Cathy, Pat and Kari and their families. Mark also had a dear girlfriend, Liz Erbentraut and some very special and lifelong friends.
Due to his selfless and giving nature, Mark’s Dad, Gordon, sometimes referred to him as St. Mark. With his deep faith and love of God, Mark had fully prepared himself for his homecoming, to join God, his Dad, and all of the loving family waiting in heaven for his arrival. Mark, we will always keep you in our hearts!! Bless you, always, our amazing Mark, with all our love!!
