Mary J. Carrigan (3/27/1964-11/24/2024), has left her family, friends and cats bereft as she rejoins her father, James Carrigan, to await the rest of us poor suckers left to mourn them both.
Mary, from Sebastopol, CA, and then Santa Rosa, worked at Rincon Valley Yard and Garden, where she liberally awarded Hello Kitty stickers to favored customers, and where she took care of the shop kitties, booping their noses when necessary. She joined her other siblings, Jim (Gretchen) Carrigan, Kathy (Ken) Carrigan Heininge, and Rosie (Pat Murphy) Carrigan, in ridiculous levels of snark and malarkey whenever the opportunity presented itself. When she had to wear a dress and heels to our father's funeral, she notably gave our mother a little shove from her walker, telling her, "Here, I need this more than you do!" which of course sent us all into tears of laughter at the least appropriate moment. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy, her niece, Harmony Carrigan, and Amanda and Aaron Heininge, her step-people.
Mary's soft heart was tucked nicely under a wry exterior, but no cat ever failed to take advantage of it. She was honest to a fault, funnier than you can imagine, and suffered too much in this life. We know she is happier, even though we are not.
Her memorial will take place on December 21st, at St. James Church in Petaluma at 11:00.
Inappropriate laughter and ugly housecoats will be the order of the day
