Mary J. Costello

October 15, 1914 — May 3, 2007

Mary J. Costello - COSTELLO, Mary J. - Passed away quietly May 3, 2007 at her Santa Rosa home surrounded by family, at the age of 92, having enjoyed a wonderful life. Born in Pontiac, IL, survived by her brother Ben Edwards of West Linn, OR. She married her late husband, Thomas Costello, Sr. in 1933. Together they raised 5 children; Jim Costello (Pat) of Sebastopol; Tim Costello, of Talkeetna, AK; Tom Costello, Jr. (Maxine), of Sebastopol; Connie Magnusen(Ed), of Santa Rosa, & Marianne Kane (Jack), of Victoria,TX. She was the Grandmother of 13, Great-Grandmother of 19 and Great Great Grandmother of 3, all of who are scattered from Alaska to Florida and many points in between. Private Memorial Services will be held at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY-SEBASTOPOL, Tuesday, May 8th. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa, 95401. She never missed a birthday or Christmas remembrance from the oldest to the very youngest, and being a great traveler, she looked forward to every visit to and from them all. She and her late husband took great pleasure in raising their family to set goals and work hard to achieve them. She was a true blessing, a great Mom, fantastic encourager and, when necessary, she sympathetically consoled. If things didnâ??t go as hoped, one of her favorite expressions was, â??Well, I guess it just wasnâ??t meant to be.â?
