Mary Patricia (Culligan) Dee

March 25, 1928 — January 16, 2015

Pat passed away peacefully at her home in Petaluma on January 16, 2015. She was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with her younger sister and brother. She began her career in nursing in Michigan, moved to the Bay Area in 1963 where she worked at Blue Shield and met and married the love of her life, John Dee. After 44 years of marriage, John preceded her in death in June 2013. She is survived by her sons, Andrew and Michael Dee, grandchildren Cassandra and Gabriella Taleno-Dee, Crystal Gordon and Jasmine Burke, her sister Margaret Dahl, her brother, Thomas Culligan and by a host of relatives and friends. Pat was a registered nurse, a sports mom, an excellent chef, an appreciator of the arts, and an active member of her church, St. Vincent de Paul. She was also a long time volunteer at Sack's Hospice Thrift Shop. She and John enjoyed attending opera, symphony and theatre performances in San Francisco and were annual visitors to Ashland's Shakespeare Festival. She was also an avid A's fan, a reluctant Giant's fan and a careful observer and commentator on the world around her. She will be greatly missed by all of us who have known and loved her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 2:30 pm, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St. Petaluma with a reception to follow to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Petaluma (https://www.stjoesonoma.org/For-Community/Donate-Online.aspx). Family assisted by PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma.
