Loved grandmother of six and great-grandmother of nine. Daughter of the late Christ and Elizabeth Schock Merkel and step-daughter to Eva Merkel. Loving sister of Florence Fernandez, Mable Donzelli, and the late Rueben Maier, Arnold Maier, George Merkel, Gottfried Merkel, Reinhold Merkel, Ben Merkel, Emil "Chester""" Merkel, and Irene Fomasi. A member of the Elim Lutheran Church. She worked many jobs in Petaluma during the War years. "" Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service, Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Elim Lutheran Church, 504 Baker St., Petaluma. A Visitation will be held Friday (today), July 10, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA. The family prefers memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952 or a favorite charity of choice. Interment: Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma, CA.
