Mary Therese Mcneany

McNEANY, MARY THERESE - Entered into rest peacefully on November 9, 2014 in Santa Rosa, CA. Most loving wife of the late William E. (Bill) McNeany, beloved mother of: Bill, Jr. (Tammy), Therese McNeany-Peifer (Charles), Mary Ellen Struck, Kathleen Veon (Robert O'Brien), Beth Dericco (Joel) John (Lynette), Joseph (Annie), Patrick (Kimi) and the late Thomas and Paul. Adored grandmother of Matt, Ben, Josh, David, Daniel, Chris, Jared, Andrew, Patrick, Dylan, Taylor and Julia, and cherished great grandmother of Major. Mary was born in Milwaukee, WI on October 2, 1927, to William and Alice Donovan. Her brother was the late Msgr. John Donovan also of Milwaukee. She attended both elementary school and high school in Milwaukee, and graduated from Marquette University with BA in Education. She met her future husband Bill there, and after graduating, taught 2nd Grade at Pleasant Ave School in Milwaukee. On August 4th of 1951, she married Bill and they drove West on their Honeymoon to their new home in Santa Rosa, where Bill became the Owner/Manager of Rosenberg's Department Store. Mary enjoyed traveling, accompanying Bill on business trips to New York and LA and pleasure trips to Hawaii, Europe and the Caribbean. She was a member of many social and charitable organizations including the Saturday Afternoon Club, Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club, Wild Oak Saddle Club, Santa Rosa Symphony League, Welfare League and Catholic Charities. She was also a distinguished member of the Holy Sepulcher and supported The Memorial Hospital Foundation and The Annual Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed spectator sports especially when the 49ers, Giants or Packers were playing, along with summer getaways to Lake Tahoe. She will be missed by many and remembered for her style and grace. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of St. Eugene (Corner of Farmer's Lane & Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa, CA, 95405). Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery (2930 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa, CA, 95404). LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL (4321 Sonoma Highway, Santa Rosa, CA, 95409) will provide visitation hours from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2014, where at 7:00 PM, a Vigil/Rosary Service will commence in the main chapel. With deep appreciation and gratitude, Mary's family wish to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Memorial Hospital, Heartland Hospice and Friends House for their loving care and attention. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorial donations to: Cardinal Newman High School, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Foundation, Heartland Hospice or Catholic Charities.
