Mary Naismith Stapleton

MARY NAISMITH STAPLETON passed away peacefully in her home on May, 7 2017 in Penngrove, CA at the age of 92. Mary is survived by her daughter Diane Solari of Petaluma, her grandchildren T.J. Lester of San Rafael, Christine Kline of Petaluma, Allie Solari of Petaluma and her great-grandchildren Luke and Olivia Kline. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Stapleton of Petaluma. Mary was born on 1/12/25 in Glasgow, Scotland to William and Elizabeth McIlwraith. Mary immigrated to the United States in the late 1940’s. Mary was a dance instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Vallejo, CA where she met her future husband Thomas Stapleton. They were married in 1953. After living in several places they made their home in Sonoma County. Mary spent a lot of her time helping people with substance abuse at Azure Acres in Sebastopol where she was the administrative assistant for many years. After her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mary will be missed by many. Mary’s family is making plans for a celebration of her life. Family and friends will be notified of the specific date.
