Mary Yvonne "Vonnie" Luksza

March 3, 1938 — March 24, 2021

If the words “kooky,” “caring,” or “cream puff chef extraordinaire” ever needed a portrait to depict them, Mary Yvonne “Vonnie” Luksza would have been an ideal candidate. Throughout the years, Vonnie was known as the life of the party, the cook and baker who was always planning her next delightful meal, and the person who would start spontaneously dancing for no reason. Vonnie had a zest for life and a deep love for family and friends.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the morning hours of March 23rd, 2021 of natural causes. Vonnie (as she was called by her family and friends) was born in Raleigh, NC on March 3, 1938.  She spent her childhood and early adult years in Ewing, NJ, graduating from Ewing High School in 1956. Four years later she married Donald Luksza and embarked on a long and fulfilling career as mother and wife. Throughout their union, Vonnie and her family lived in many different states, including CA, NC, NJ, PA, and TX. After Don died, in 1999 Vonnie followed her daughter Christine to California, reinventing herself as a salesperson and office manager for a small tech company in Petaluma.  Vonnie’s colorful personality was a key component to her enduring success in the office and beyond. As a proud and dedicated employee she worked up until her last day. She recently celebrated her 83rd birthday and was excited to experience “normal” life again after getting her second Covid vaccine weeks before. Vonnie was much loved by all who knew her. She was an incredible grandmother and mother and her grandchildren and children adored her. She had a unique sense of crazy humor and playfulness that brought laughter and joy to everyone.  She will be missed dearly.

Vonnie is predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Donald.  She is survived by her daughters  Cheryl Bourn and Christine Luksza-Paravicini, grandchildren Justin Bourn, Noah Paravicini, and Chloe Paravicini, and sisters Doris Calisti and Barbara Sciarrotta.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the following non-profit organizations that Vonnie supported:  The Native American Heritage Association ( https://www.naha-inc.org/ ) and Medicins Sans Frontiers, also known as Doctors Without Borders ( www.msf.org ).
