Mary Agnes Zandrino

September 20, 1918 — August 5, 2010

Mary Agnes Zandrino - ZANDRINO, MARY AGNES (BOCCI)" On August 5, 2010, Mary Agnes Bocci Zandrino, the eldest of five living generations, was called to be with the Lord and her many loved ones. Mary was born September 20, 1918 in Portland, OR to Santi Bocci and Filomena Grisanti who immigrated from Tuscany Italy. Deeply patriotic, Mary was extremely proud to be the first in her family born in America and the first to serve in the military. Following her time as a WAVE during WWII, Mary worked as an accountant in Portland and San Francisco. In 1952, she gave up big city life to marry Dry Creek Rancher, George Zandrino. She lived in the Healdsburg area the rest of her life. She continued to do accounting for many businesses including Miller Fruit Company. She and George also owned and operated the Redwood Book Store. George and Mary had one daughter, Michelle, whose death at age 4, Mary grieved for many years. Mary had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and made pilgrimages to many shrines including Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje, and Oberammergau as well as numerous trips to Rome. She enjoyed a close friendship with the Sisters of the Holy Infant Jesus from Ireland. For more than forty years, she was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation-Branch 52, and served both as Branch President and District President. Mary loved to travel, always marveling at the beauty of God"s creation. She visited most of the countries in eastern and western Europe as well as Egypt, China, the Holy Land, Mexico, Canada, South America and most of the United States, but her favorite places were the ranch and the Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother "The Grotto"
