Maureen Ann Lane, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at her home in Walnut Creek, California, on March 14, 2025. Daughter of the late John Vincent and Celeste Woulfe, Maureen was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. After graduation, Maureen drove out West with three close friends to begin her career in the San Francisco Bay Area.
While at a party in Petaluma, the dashing George William Lane Jr. met and was smitten by the elegant Chicagoan and soon thereafter proposed marriage. The couple married in Chicago in 1958 and raised a family of five children in Petaluma and Sonoma. She is survived by James Lane (Caroline), Celeste Lane, Virginia Lane and Nancy Lane (Pascal Fua). She leaves behind siblings John Vincent Woulfe Jr. and Frances Ann Floeter. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, her son Michael Joseph Lane (Maral) and her sister Virginia Woulfe.
Her grandchildren Naoise, Ciara, Raphaël and Emmanuel gave her great joy. She was adored by many nieces and nephews.
Maureen managed a loud and energetic household. Her greatest priority and joy was her family for whom she worked tirelessly.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 35 Liberty Street, Petaluma, California at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 24, 2025. A reception will be held immediately after the mass.
