Melba McCord, 90, passed away peacefully in her own home on Monday December 26, 2016 surrounded by the love of her family. Melba Pauline McCord (Fahland) was born on April 24, 1926, in Ironton, Missouri to the late John and Marie Fahland. She moved to CA in 1930, and resided in Petaluma since 1940 where she met and married her first love.
She was the dedicated wife of the late Clyde “Bud” McCord for 70 years, mother of the late Kathleen McCord Ryan, and sister of the late Charles Robert Fahland. She leaves her grandsons Robert Stauft and Alex Mallin; granddaughter Nicole Mallin; and her great grandchildren Clyde, Serena, Dylan and Emily, as well as many close relatives and friends.
Melba was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who was very proud of her family. She loved holidays and spending time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking, cleaning, and preparing for company. Melba was a wonderful example of faith, love, hope, and charity. She was an avid member of the United Church of Christ, Petaluma Women’s Club and generously donated her time as a volunteer at Kaiser Petaluma. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
A memorial to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday January 21th, 2017 – 2pm at United Church of Christ - 825 Middlefield Dr, Petaluma. Memorial gifts in Melba’s memory can be made to United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or to your favorite charity.
