Melvin Sterling Coops

Passed away in Santa Rosa, CA, May 1, 2013 at the age of 83. Melvin was born in Sonoma, graduating from Sonoma High School, later attended SRJC and graduated from U.C. Berkeley as a nuclear chemist. He worked for over 40 years in nuclear research at the University of California Livermore Lab. After retirement, he returned to Sonoma County and resided in Santa Rosa. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Coops James and Arthur Irving Coops. Melvin was the uncle of Robert C. (Karen) Hammond of Goldendale,WA, Cindy (Dan) Subia of Vale, AZ, Melinda Spring of Lusby, MD, Dinah Coops (Steve) Havas of Seattle, WA, Alison (Chuck) Ludwig of Glen Allen, VA, Dan (Amy) Coops of Austin, TX and was the brother-in-law of Shirley Coops of Kenwood, CA. At the request of Melvin, there will be no services. Private inurnment will be at Mountain Cemetery, Sonoma, CA.
