Melvin "Mel" Lafranchi

Melvin L. “Mel” Lafranchi passed away on September 4, 2021 in Petaluma at the age of 74 years.  Devoted father of Eric Lafranchi, Katie Lafranchi, Luke Lafranchi, and the late Hank Lafranchi.  Adored grandfather of Michaela, Kobe, Bella and Brogan.  Loving brother of Marj Hansen, Darlene Baser, Denise Churchill Clarkson, Pete Spiliotis, Gina Lafranchi and Debbie Johnson.  Survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mel was born in Petaluma but grew up in Nicasio.  During Vietnam, he enlisted in the US Army and served his country faithfully.  Mel enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: rootbeer flavored hard candy and popsicles.  He loved to ride his Harley, but above all, Mel was a family man.  He enjoyed Sunday Family Day and cherished each moment he spent with his loved ones.  He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Visitation on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.  The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma.  A Reception will follow.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  Private Inurnment: Calvary Cemetery, Petaluma.
