Melvin Rohde - Native Petaluman, Melvin Rohde passed away at his home in Petaluma on January 9, 2011. Devoted husband for 67 years to Verlie Rohde of Petaluma. Loving father of Doug Rohde of Danville, CA and Sandra Kelly of Hillsborough, CA. Beloved father-in-law of Jan Rohde and Dennis Kelly. Loving grandfather of Darren (Erin) Rohde, Jeffrey Rohde, Lauren Rohde, and Michelle Kelly and great-grandfather of Sean and Ethan Rohde. Dear brother of Catherine MacKenzie of Petaluma. Survived by 2 nephews. A â??special thank youâ?? is given to Mila and Patrick; his wonderful caregivers. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952. Inurnment: Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma. Melvin graduated from Petaluma High School in 1940. He was active in the FFA and was an officer in the state level of FFA during his high school years. He joined the US Air Force during WW II. After being discharged he came back to Petaluma and became a poultry rancher until he retired in 1990.
