Merilyn Lois Thomas

Merilyn Lois Thomas passed away on May 16, 2022 at the age of 93. Merilyn was born January 25, 1929 in Chico, California to Robert and Glendean Evans. Her family travelled the state for a few years, then eventually settled in Salinas during Merilyn’s teen years. She later met her husband-to-be Ralph Thomas and they chose to raise a family in Petaluma.  She and Ralph were together for sixty-nine years until his death in 2018.

Merilyn enjoyed being a homemaker. When she wasn’t out gardening you could always find her curled up with a good book. She also kept busy with local projects including volunteering for many years at the Redwood food bank. She could easily engage with people everywhere, and was always gracious. She kept her wry wit and wicked sense of humor until the very end.

She is survived by her four children Kathleen Peterson of Sonoma, Ralph Thomas of Richmond, Daniel Thomas of Washington State and Pamela Thomas of Concord. Beloved grandmother of nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Cherished aunt of numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 21 at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma at 1pm, and Merilyn will be laid to rest at Cypress Hill Memorial Park directly following the service.
