Mervin Albert Mcdonald

Passed away peacefully at his ranch, August 6, 2022 at the age of 98. Merv was born in Petaluma to William Marshall McDonald and Stella Inez Alice Moretti.   He was a natural cowboy and spent most of his life ranching in Marin County. He cherished his friends and family, his horses, his hounds, hunting, shearing sheep and a good cow dog.  He was Cattleman of the Year, and enjoyed his memberships in the Sonoma County Trail Blazers and the Umbriago Deer Club.

Merv was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2001. He is survived by his children, Bill (Deana) McDonald, Mike McDonald and Kathy (Gino) Lucchesi.  Loving grandfather of Jeannette (Scott) Bucher, Annemarie (Trevor) Zediker, Jodi (Luke) Stevens, Amy (John) Dilena and Clay (Jenny) Lucchesi.  Cherished great grandfather of Jeanna and JD Bucher, Rance, Tristan and Brody Zediker, Brinlee and Stran Stevens, Cole and Grady Dilena, Bernice and Gino Lucchesi. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Stanley McDonald, Shirley Silva and Leroy McDonald.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 6:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma.  Private family graveside services will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Petaluma.  For those who wish to honor Merv’s life with a donation they can be made to Hospice of Petaluma.
