Mervyn Glenn "Merv" Conger

Mervyn Glenn Conger (Merv) was born on May 30, 1923, in Petaluma, CA. He passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital on January 26, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Merv was the loving husband of the late Dorothy Sganzini Conger, beloved father of Shelley Medeiros (Vasco), and Heidi Johnson (Steve). He had six grandchildren that he adored – Zachary and Alyssa Medeiros, Mikhayla, Jesse, Gianni, and Nicoletta Johnson. Merv was predeceased by his parents Glenn and Alma Conger. Merv attended Petaluma High School. He served in the Air Force during World War II as an Airline Mechanic and gained the status of Sharp Shooter. He met Dorothy through her uncle Bill Pereira while riding in their motorcycle club. He married Dorothy Sganzini on July 14, 1946. Merv owned and operated H&S Service Garage in Petlauma for 35 years. Merv was a man of many talents; mechanic, airline pilot, electrician, plumber, welder, and just excelled at fixing anything with his hands. Merv loved to fly his Piper and Lusc planes out onto Drakes Bay in Tomales, land and then abalone, fly back out. He also flew to the Sierras to trout fish with his business partner, cousin, and friends. After Dorothy passed his son-in-laws got him back into fishing again, this time large mouth bass. The entire family started a tradition of a yearly vacation to Clearlake, fishing, boating, and enjoying each other’s company for the last 30 years. Merv will be missed by his family, who loved his passion for life, wonderful smile, beautiful blue eyes, and his stories.

Viewing will commence at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Vincent's Church, Petaluma, CA., with the Funeral Mass following at 12:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Hospice, 439 College Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
