Merylo Miriam (Jameson) Roberti

December 6, 1925 — July 29, 2018

Our beautiful Mother, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, friend and neighbor passed away at home on Sunday, July 29, 2018 after a lengthy illness.  A proud third generation Petaluman, Merylo was born at home on December 6, 1925 to wonderful parents, Roy Jameson and Wilma Dahlmann.  The Dahlmann family emigrated from Germany and found their "Promised Land" in the Petaluma Valley in the early 1800’s.

After graduating from Petaluma High School in 1943, Merylo worked at Bank of America for 10 years, during which time she met Alfred. They were married at Petaluma’s United Methodist Church, in 1947.  Merylo also enjoyed working at Olga’s Hat and Gown when her children were in elementary school.  She continued working within the family business, Jameson Trucking, until retirement.

Merylo was forever positive, good natured, and gracious.  The most loving, devoted and supportive Mother.  She had a sparkling personality and always had a funny story or joke ready to share, loving to make others feel as happy as she.

Merylo enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and knitting gorgeously elaborate sweaters and afghans.  She was an avid gardener, growing beautifully arranged combinations of flowers, with a clear preference for everything the color blue.  Merylo was always stylish with beautifully coiffured blonde hair, striking blue eyes and Revlon #410 Soft Shell Pink lipstick.  She loved Lake Tahoe as the family vacation spot for decades.

Merylo and Alfred were members of the Petaluma Golf & Country Club, Petaluma Elks Lodge BPOE #901, and she was a past member of Petaluma Garden Club.

The “Hostess with the Mostest”, Merylo loved to entertain and did so with flair and excitement. She was known for gourmet menus and special Christmas morning brunch, as well as hosting “the best” pool parties ever.  Merylo loved "her music" and enjoyed dancing.  Forever the nurturer, she often made meals and soups for cherished family and friends.

Merylo was a calm but enthusiastic traveler, enjoying many trips with Alfred and friends, and later in life, with her children and their families.  She would never turn down an opportunity to travel, even to exotic locations.

Besides playing cards, Merylo was an expert board game player, honing her skills over many years as a loving grandmother, sharing her experience, wisdom and love.

Caregiver extraordinaire, Merylo was eternally optimistic through the life-altering health adversities of her Husband, and her Mother. She patiently cared and tended them to the end.

Merylo is survived by her daughter, Renée Klemenok and her husband John; and son, Paul Roberti and his wife Alice.  She was a loving Grandma to Michael, Bradley and Emma Roberti; Step-Grandma to Nick Klemenok; and adoring Great-Grandma to Hunter and Natalya. Merylo had special relationships with Nephew Steve Jameson and his wife Diana, and niece Mary Jameson.  She is also survived by many Dahlmann and Jameson family cousins.

Merylo was predeceased by her husband, Alfred; brother, Darol Jameson; Sister-in-law, Veva Jameson; Sister-in-law, Irene Roberti; Niece, Susan Jameson; and Nephew, Brent Jameson

At Merylo’s request, there will be no services.

Donations in Merylo’s honor may be made to Hospice of Petaluma or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Our family would like to especially thank Merylo’s long-time caregiver, Litiana Tudraki, and the entire Hospice of Petaluma Team for their patient and loving care.

Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration.  Fly with delicate grace Mom, along with Gram.

We were the light of her life, and she, the heart of ours.
