Michael "Mike" Curtis

July 14, 1951 — September 21, 2021

Michael “Mike” Curtis was born to Walter Mylan & Marion Eunice Curtis on July 14, 1951 at Memorial Hospital & left from there on September 21, 2021 after battling illnesses for several years. Mike was generous, intelligent, loyal, trustworthy, compassionate, and loving throughout his lifetime. An energetic boy, Mike played catcher in little league, goalie for ice hockey leagues for 9 years, and played football while attending Cardinal Newman. As a teen, Mike was awarded the Northern California Goalie of the Year and received numerous awards for his woodworking skills.

Living in Santa Rosa his entire life, Mike attended Doyle Park, Santa Rosa Junior High, and Cardinal Newman where he gathered lifelong friends. He worked at the Highland House as a bus boy then at Village Auto Supply & opened an auto parts store followed by owning Curtis Auto Recycling & Scrap (C.A.R.S.) until his retirement.  If someone had a need Mike would go out of his way to fill the need. As a young teen, Mike spent time with his dad at the “gold claim” in Johnsville, learning how to pan and mine gold.

Mike met his soulmate Alice and they were married for 46 years. They enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, gambling, cooking and most of all family events.  Becoming a father made Mike the proudest, second only to becoming a grandfather. He loved watching Joe grow into a man as he supported Joe’s interests in body building and career. He was a mentor to them both and his legacy will carry on.

Those left to carry on for Mike are: his wife Alice; son Joe (Sarah); grandson Jack, sister Mary Ruth Prather, brother-in-law Don Schmidt (Shirley), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Curtis, sister Norene Silverek, and in-laws Bill and Jenny Schmidt.

Memorial services will be held at Lafferty & Smith, 4321 Sonoma Hwy. on October 30th at 11 am. Celebration of life will follow at the Vets Bldg.  Donations can be made to Montgomery Village Lions Club, P.O. Box 2035, Santa Rosa, CA 95405 in Mike’s Name.
