Michael Matthew Zetzer

January 12, 1951 — August 21, 2025

Petaluma

As the sun rose on the horizon on August 21, 2025, Michael Matthew Zetzer set sail to join his heroes in his next adventure in the halls of forever. Born on January 12, 1951, son to Myer Albert Zetzer and Florence Zetzer, Husband to Debbie A. Zetzer, Father to David & Aaron, his wife Rozanna and pops to his cherished grandchildren Arianne & Addison. He is also survived by his adoring sister, Cyndy and her husband, Phil and his best friend (and cousin), Neil. Michael has moved forward—but not before setting a strong foundation and leaving a lasting legacy for his family.

He was known for being truly one of a kind and genuine, a storyteller, a bad dancer, horrendous speller, having terrible taste in D-list movies, a deep love of history and adventure. Mostly, he will be remembered for his never ending witty or clever retorts.

He loved his country. He honored it by enlisting in the U.S. Army and was Awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his military service. He continued to serve his country as a Letter Carrier in the U.S. Postal Service culminating over 27 years of service. Per my Michael's requests, there will be no memorial or service. Fittingly, his long-standing wishes were to be pushed out into the ocean on a wooden boat, cremated, and remains to be set adrift. The family will be holding a symbolic funeral at sea in the coming months.

We ask that in lieu of flowers or gifts, share one of your favorite stories about him and hug the loved ones around you today.
