Myrtle Lee Olsen

MYRTLE LEE OLSEN passed away on February 18, 2017 in Santa Rosa at the age of 79 years.  Devoted wife of the late Robert Olsen.  Cherished mother of Lori Altbach, Cheryl Anderson (Paul Meyer), Robert Olsen (Rhonda), Dale Olsen (Joanna).  Beloved grandmother of Venecia Battaglia, Albert Battaglia, Kevin Olsen, Kristi Olsen, Bradley Altbach, Dennis Bonilla, Francesca Olsen, and Jared Olsen.  Loving sister of Melinda Stephens and the late Ann Curcio (Myrtle’s twin), and Carol Chelini.  Survived by several nieces and nephews.

Myrtle was born in San Francisco, but reared and educated in Palo Alto, graduating from Menlo-Atherton High School.  It was there that she met, and later married, the love of her life, Robert.  They moved around CA before finally settling in Petaluma in 1963 where they raised their family.  Myrtle was very active in her children’s lives, involving herself in all of their activities.  Later, she worked in the bakery department at Lucky’s for 10 years.  When her grandchildren came along, Myrtle made sure to be just as present in their lives as she was in her own children’s by spending quality time with them.  In her spare time, she enjoyed playing golf, bunco, traveling and socializing with her many friends and family.  Myrtle was a wonderful woman; she will be greatly missed.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Petaluma Golf & Country Club, 1500 Country Club Dr., Petaluma.  Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Dept., 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016. Inurnment Service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, 430 Magnolia Ave., Petaluma.
