Our beloved mother, Nancy, passed away peacefully from this life on February 17, 2014. She was born in West Virginia to Virgil and Pauline (Burnside) Sturm. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Al, and her sisters Anna and Billie.
Nancy's greatest joy was her husband and family. She was the devoted and loving mother of Kathleen Favot-Blanquie (Ron), Mimi Favot, David Favot (Karen), Barbie Richard (Mike) and Mark Favot. Grandmother of Nathan, Seth, Jim, Ryan, Dominique, Jordon, Josiah, Shiloh, Anneka, Katelynn, Valerie, Cody and Jamie. Great-grandmother of Jesse, Carsie, Gavin and Layla.
Nancy and Al were active in their church for as long as their health permitted. Their compassion and caring for the people whose lives they touched reflected their belief in and love of God. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school, and in her later years volunteered in the church nursery caring for the babies so their parents could attend services. She absolutely adored children.
For several years, she and one of her closest friends would spend one day each week visiting the residents of the convalescent homes in Petaluma. They made sure to spend extra time with those who had no visitors. She often invited those who were able and had no family to spend their holiday dinners at her home.
Nancy loved to read and through the adult literacy program was responsible for several older adults achieving their dream of learning to read. All she needed was a willing student, the dining room table, teaching materials, and - as always - a pot of coffee.
We would like to thank Joanie and Doug, Mother's caregivers, for the excellent care, genuine caring and love they gave to her. We greatly appreciate those wonderful people.
Nancy will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Her kindness, wisdom, humor and strength were admired by all.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Friday, March 7 at 1:30 PM at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, 430 Magnolia Avenue, Petaluma, CA. Family assisted by PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma.
