Nicholous George Schutz

Nicholous (Nick) Schutz passed away in Santa Rosa, CA on Monday, November 19, 2018. He was born October 2, 1927 in Ghizela,Romania to Anton Schutz Sr. and Katarina Raübenger.  He married the love of his life, Susan Kessler on June 28, 1952 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.   He is survived by his wife Susan Schutz of 66 years of marriage; children Michael Schutz & life partner Judith Stewart of Ukiah, CA; Daniel Schutz of Santa Rosa, CA; grandchildren Melissa (Schutz) & Kevin King of Meridian, ID; Kristin Schutz of Ukiah, CA; Christopher Schutz of Sacramento, CA; great-grandchildren Seth & Eli King of Meridian, ID; Dante & Demarkus Schutz of Sacramento, CA; brother Anton Schutz Jr. of Newhall, CA and numerous nieces and nephews that will affectionately remember him as "Uncle Nicky."   He is preceded in death by daughter-in-law Maria Glena Schutz; late wife of Daniel Schutz.    In 1930, at the young age of 2, Nick and his family endured an 8-day voyage across the Atlantic from Cherbourg, France to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in search of a better life. As a young adult, Nick worked as a stock broker for 12 years before moving he and his wife, Susan, to Southern California where he began a lifelong career with the McDonald's Corporation. He was close friends with Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald's, who eventually offered him his first (which later became several) McDonald's franchise restaurant's ; prompting him to move his family to Ukiah, CA. In total Nick was with the McDonald's Corporation for well over 50 years.    During his younger years Nick was an active member of the Ukiah community and loved to play a round of golf with friends. He was passionate about traveling; having visited many places all over the world, was a strong supporter of the catholic church and was known for making friends wherever he went.    The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful and loving staff at Mystical Rose Care Home. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. at The Cathedral of St. Eugene (corner of Farmer's Lane and Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa, CA). Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery (2930 Bennett Valley Rd., Santa Rosa). LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL (4321 Sonoma Highway, Santa Rosa, CA, 95409) will provide Visitation Hours on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where a Vigil/Rosary Service ​​will commence at 7:00 p.m. in the main chapel.
