Norma Leona Lutz

June 12, 1930 — January 22, 2016

NORMA LEONA LUTZ (GROTH) was born in Clinton, Minnesota on June 12, 1930. Norma passed away on January 22, 2016 in the loving care of Kelly Sturgeon and her staff at Creekside Cottage. We are truly thankful for the care they gave her in the last year of her life. Norma was raised in Luverne, Minnesota. When she graduated from high school, as valedictorian, she took a job as a secretary at the University of Minnesota Dental School. From there she applied for a job as a secretary for the US State Department. She became a secretary for the United States Embassy in Yugoslavia. It was there she met the love of her life and husband of fifty years Jim Lutz, who was a Marine Corp sergeant and Embassy guard. Norma was a secretary at Casa Grande High School in Petaluma for over 25 years. She enjoyed trips in their motorhome traveling as far as Alaska with the grandchildren and for many years she and her late husband Jim would spend the winters in Yuma, AZ. Among her many hobbies were reading books and in later years books on her Kindle. She also enjoyed dinners out and had a passion for fine wines and port. Norma is preceded in death by Jim. She is survived by her children Tim Lutz (Paula), Dan Lutz (Laurie), Paula Gibson, and Pam Curtis (Alan). She is also survived by her grandchildren Justin, Zack, Kyle and Jason Lutz, Melissa Gonzales (Daron), Morgan Rycerski (Tommy) and Sam Friedman. The family will be celebrating her life at a private ceremony, donations can be made to Hospice of Petaluma. Family assisted by PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma.
