Opal Waneta Christopher

Opal Waneta Christopher - Opal Waneta Christopher passed away peacefully on Friday, December 17th in Santa Rosa. She was blessed to have had 102 years before leaving us. Born September 17, 1908 in Wadsworth, OH; Opal was the fourth child of eleven of the late Oscar and Lucy Nicodemus. Opal attended Wadsworth High School then Kent State University, graduating in 1927. A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St. Petaluma. Friends may also visit at the mortuary on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. Interment following at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. She began her career teaching the second grade at the Franklin School in Wadsworth. During this time she was reunited with her seventh grade childhood school mate Owen Christopher. They were married in 1929 beginning a loving 67 year marriage. In 1952, they moved to CA where they opened the Christopher Laundromat on Grant Street in Novato. In 1968 they moved to Pebble Beach and managed the Fireside Inn and Lamp Lighter Hotels. Owen and Opal returned to Rohnert Park in 1983
