Ouida Nell Wise

Ouida Nell Wise, 87, a Petaluma resident for 55 years, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Born August 6, 1931 in Wapanuka, Oklahoma, Ouida was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and homemaker who committed her life to the people she loved.

Ouida was passionate about her faith and attended Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Petaluma for over 50 years. She participated in the Alter Guild for many years serving her church.

Ouida took an active role and involved her children in many activities such as Cub Scouts, Little League Baseball, Petaluma Swim Club, and programs such as the Sonoma County Special Olympics and bowling leagues for her special needs son, Roger.

Ouida became a talented seamstress making clothes for her family, including suits for her husband, Martin. In the early 70’s, she began making custom draperies with her neighbor, JoAnne Smart. They continued this partnership for many years.

In 1948, Ouida began working at JC Penny Company where she met her husband of 66 years, Martin Paul Wise. She is survived by her husband, Marty (Martin) and their five children, Deborah, Robert, Clifford (Lisa), Russell (Viki), and Roger.   In addition, she is survived by 8 grandchildren, Jesse, Kristopher, Brianna, Chelsea, Jazmine (Michael), Antonia, Brandon (Tasha) and Kelsie (Bradley) and 6 great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ryken, Kamden, Jace, Haven and Charlie Grace.

Ouida is proceeded in death by her parents, Roy and Pearl Padgett, and was the last remaining sibling, proceeded in death by John, Dorothy, Roy, Richard and Bonnie.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the St. John’s Episcopal Church 40 5th Street, Petaluma.  A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk Street, Petaluma.  Interment will take place on Monday, October 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Cypress Hill Memorial Park, 430 Magnolia Avenue, Petaluma.
