Patricia Mechling

d. August 17, 2021

Patricia Ann Mariani Mechling died on August 22, 2021 after a short illness with her family by her side five days after turning 88 years old. Patricia is survived by her son David Mechling and his wife Mona of Rohnert Park, son Steven Mechling of Santa Rosa and grandson Daniel Mechling of Chesapeake Virginia.

She is also survived by her brother Joe Mariani and his wife Mary, sister Ann Jane Sollom all of Windsor and brother Larry Mariani and his wife Luci of Murrieta CA along with numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband George Delbert Mechling, daughter Virginia Marie Mechling, parents Lawrence and Susan Mariani and brother in law Fred Sollom.

Pat was born in San Francisco and grew up between San Francisco, Marin County and Santa Rosa. After graduating from Ursuline high school in 1952 she and Del got engaged and were married July 12, 1953 at St. Rose church in Santa Rosa. Within a few years they had their family of four and while Del went off each day to work for the plumber’s union, Pat did a fine job of raising their two boys.

Her favorite memories were of the many visits to the family cabin in the Mendocino county redwood forest down the road from the Northspur station of the famed Skunk Train. Other wonderful times were trailering at Doran Park and going up the coast route into the Pacific northwest with close friends. After Del’s retirement they made a trip across the country in their 5th wheel visiting many American monuments.

Pat spent many decades being involved in organizations at St. Rose parish, Y.L.I. in particular getting all the church ladies to recruit their husbands to man the kitchen for the annual Thanksgiving dinner and getting Del to play Santa Claus at Catholic Charities Family Support Center. She loved being of service and giving to her community.

We will miss our beloved mother, grandmother and sister.

There will be no memorial at this time due to county covid restrictions. In lieu of flowers please send any donations in her name to Catholic Charities. Cremation handled by Lafferty & Smith.
