Patricia Anne Rosen

Patricia ("Patti") Anne Rosen of Petaluma died peacefully at her home on September 21, 2013, surrounded by her husband and children. A ninth-generation Californian, Patti was born in San Rafael to Joseph and Elsie Mazzini on May 9, 1937. Patti grew up in San Rafael, graduating from Marin Catholic High School and Dominican College, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Education with a minor in Art. Patti found great joy in teaching and was exceptionally effective in the classroom, teaching third grade in Novato schools for thirteen years, first at Olive Elementary and then at Pleasant Valley Elementary. She loved to paint and draw and would travel whenever she had the chance. In September 1971, a student teacher named Clark Rosen was assigned to Patti's third-grade classroom. Less than a year later they were married. By early 1975, Patti had given birth to David and triplets John, Sarah, and Neil, and the family moved from their home in West Marin to Petaluma. While her children were still very young, Patti donated her time to serve on the Petaluma People Services Center's support hotline. Later she volunteered for a few years as a hospice caregiver. Patti resumed teaching as a substitute in Petaluma schools and worked for many years as an administrative assistant in a local real estate office. Patti is survived by her husband, Clark; her four children, David of Washington DC, John (Laura) of Chicago, Sarah of San Francisco, and Neil (Mandolyn) of New York; two grandchildren, Wren and Wanda; and six nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Richard Mazzini. The Rosen Family invites you to join them to remember Patti and celebrate her life.
