Paul Francis Meuse

May 4, 1945 — March 6, 2015

Beloved husband, stepfather of three boys, and friend to many, Paul Meuse passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2015. Born May 4, 1945 in Lynn, MA, he grew up in Terra Linda, CA (now San Rafael) where he was a member of the first graduating class of Terra Linda High School. He attended UC Davis before being drafted into the U.S Army. He was awarded the bronze star for meritorious service in a combat zone during his time with the First Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam from June 17, 1966 to May 31, 1967. Paul was an accomplished mason contractor in New Hampshire for 22 years. He was also a well-known and widely-respected sculptor of detailed military miniatures. He was an avid Civil War historian so his hobby became a business - Moments in History Miniatures - with his works featured at a prominent Gettysburg gallery. He met and married his wife Ellen in 1982 and helped raise her three sons, John, Daniel and David Batal. In addition to creating miniatures, studying the Civil War, and developing and nurturing many close friendships, Paul also coached baseball and taught Danny the masonry trade. Paul and Ellen found their ideal retirement location and moved from New Hampshire to Bodega Bay in 1989. Paul is survived by his wife, Ellen, her children John, Daniel and David Batal, a grandson, Jonas Paul Batal, his brother Phillip Meuse of Windham NH, three nephews, Curtis, Derek and Brett Meuse, and Sophie, his companion Golden Retriever. A memorial service will be held at Church of the Incarnation, 550 Mendocino Ave. Santa Rosa on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canine Companions for Independence, P.O. Box 446, Santa Rosa, CA 95402.
