Ray Spradlin was born in 1937 in Dayton, Kentucky. After graduating from Dayton High School, Ray joined the Army with his brother, Ron, and they served together in Bamberg, Germany from 1955 to 1958. It was in Forchleim, Germany that Ray met his wife, Anna Elizabeth (Bobbie). Ray and Bobbie, along with their three children, lived all over the United States as Ray served with the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Coast Guard. They lived in Missouri, Connecticut, Ohio, Michigan, Hawaii, and Southern California, before settling in Petaluma. While in Petaluma, Ray worked at the Coast Guard Training Center in Two Rock and for the County of Sonoma.In his spare time, he loved to explore the nature surrounding Petaluma and could often be found taking long walks in the hills or redwood forests. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie; and is survived by his siblings, Ronald, Patty, Roger and Ricky; and his sons, Richard, Michael and Ray. He was a loving Opa to his seven granddaughters: Rachel, Rebecca, Priscilla, Danielle, Jessica, Paige and Isabella.
Ray passed away on Tuesday December 16, 2015 at Palm Villas in Campbell, CA. His sense of humor and joyful laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service was held at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. Private inurnment was at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma, CA.
