Rebecca Jane (McClelland) Wade of Santa Rosa, formerly of Petaluma, passed away at home on Monday, October 23, 2017. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Allan Wade, daughters Carmel Brown and her husband Travis of Mayfield, KY and Robin Kunde and her husband Kurt, of Santa Rosa, grandson Lawrence “Larry” Brown of Mayfield, KY, step-granddaughter Jessica Barrett and her husband Chad and their children, Jillian, Jackson & Tristan of Benton, KY, brother George McClelland and his wife Dora of Petaluma, sister-in-law Linda Moretti of Penngrove, brother-in-law Richard Kunde of Windsor and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Robert McClelland, sister Saralee McClelland Kunde and parents Robert and Lillian (Wilson) McClelland.
Rebecca was born in San Rafael, California and raised on her family’s dairy ranch in Novato. She was active in 4-H as a member and later as a leader when her children were involved. She was a member of the first graduating class of Novato High School in 1959. She attended Heald Business College in San Francisco and worked as a key punch operator for AAA. She met Allan through her brother Robert and they were married in 1961. Rebecca worked alongside Allan on their Petaluma dairy ranch until 1987; improving the genetics of the herd with her attention to detail. Rebecca was an accomplished seamstress and made most of the clothes her daughters wore as small children. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was a very good cook.
She also worked at Eppler’s Bakery in San Francisco during the holidays and at the Sonoma-Marin Fair. She served as a Brownie troop leader and President of Grant School PTA. She also worked as bookkeeper at McClelland’s Dairy for fifteen years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandson and great-nephews and nieces grow up. She traveled several times to Kentucky to visit family. She enjoyed a family trip to Ireland in 1991 and an Alaskan cruise.
Visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM Friday, October 27, 2017 at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary 850 Keokuk St, Petaluma. The funeral will be Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 2 PM also at Parent-Sorensen followed by gravesite service at Cypress Hill Memorial park and a reception at the Penngrove Social Hall.
