Richard Raymond Echavarria - Richard Raymond Echavarria passed away on the morning of April 19, 2012. He was 59 years old.
Born October 7, 1953 in Chicago, Ill., Richard grew up in Chicago, moving to San Francisco in later years where he met his wife, Ronnie Rivard at the St. John of God Chapel.
When their first son turned one, they moved to Rohnert Park, CA, where his family still resides. They were married for 16 years.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 25, 6-8 p.m. and funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26 at 4 p.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary, 850 Keokuk St. in Petaluma followed by a Celebration of Life at the Early Learning Institute, 311 Professional Center Dr. in Rohnert Park. A fundraiser for the family will be held Saturday, May 12, 12-3 p.m. at iCandy, 554 Martin Ave., Rohnert Park, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Veronica Echavarria, benefitting Javier and Roberto, to Redwood Credit Union, account number 393509. All proceeds/donations will be donated to the permanent trust of Javier and Roberto Echavarria at a later date, as it is currently being set-up.
Richard worked for FEMA as a Technological Hazards Program Specialist for more than 30 years, traveling across the U.S. for the Government agency. Fun-loving and known for his dry sense of humor, Richard was a black and white classic movie buff, enjoyed reading historical books as well as entertainment media books, and was very well-versed at trivia; applying as a contestant on the popular trivia game show â??Jeopardyâ?
