Richard Witherell Mcevoy

Age 87 passed away at home, November 1st, 2017, All Saints Day, surrounded by his family. He is survived, missed, and loved by his wife, Marianna McEvoy. He was the beloved father of six children: Dr. Kevin McEvoy (Cindy), Dr. Margaret McEvoy (John deceased), Kathleen Wineger (Gary), Timothy McEvoy(deceased), Helen Clesen (Sean), and Anne Engler (Stephen). He also had 9 grandchildren: Erin, Kelsey & Ryan McEvoy, Tyler Wineger, Kayley, Matthew & Thomas Clesen, Savannah & Zachary Engler. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Rich was born in San Francisco, raised in Petaluma. He was the youngest of three children (Mary Helene McFadden & Dea Jean Snyder) of Richard Edmund McEvoy and Blanche Witherell. Rich was a Petaluma High School and Santa Clara University Alumni.

Rich served in the US Army. He had a career as a salesman with various companies, the last being Allstate.

Rich loved spending time with his family, coaching basketball, morning coffee at Denny’s and McDonald’s, weekend drives in his Datsun Roadster, and fly fishing at his family retreat in Sweetbriar, Castella, CA. Sweetbriar was his heaven on earth. A more committed Giants and Warrior fan would be hard to find. He will be missed.

Rosary will be held at St. Vincent Church, Petaluma at 3:00PM Friday, November 10th. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent Church, Petaluma 10:00AM Friday, November 24th. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Hospice of Petaluma or your favorite charity.
