Robert L. "Bob" Smith, (67) died of natural causes Sept. 29, 2016 in Santa Rosa, CA. He was born Nov. 22, 1948 in Willows, CA to Myron and Dorothy Smith. Bob attended grade school at Notre Dame in Chico before the family moved to Novato, where he graduated from Novato High. Bob worked at Safeway in his early career and later worked for Golden Gate Transit where he was a bus driver. A disability forced him into early retirement from GG and he dearly missed the daily passengers whom he had come to know. Bob was predeceased by his parents, and an older brother and sister. He was the father of Christine and Michele, grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 1. Bob is survived by 3 sisters: Betty Daly (Bob) of Petaluma, Myrna Eldred (Don) of Chico and Mary Kerston (Mark) of Cotati. He leaves many loving nieces and nephews, two Godsons and too many other loved ones and friends to name. Bob was the epitome of the saying having ‘never met a stranger', and had a deep affection for animals and nature. He was a loving person whose smile and friendly ways will be missed by anyone who knew him. Contributions may be made to the Petaluma Animal Shelter where Bob rescued his adored kitty companion Patches. A memorial service will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway in Petaluma on Oct.15, at 11AM. Memorial Service
