Robert “Bobby” Mawyer, born April 16, 1943, passed away on August 15, 2026. Bobby will be remembered for his deep roots in the Petaluma community, his lifelong friendships, and his love of the outdoors.
He is survived by his sisters, Carol Gallagher and Linda Adcox, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Mawyer, his father, Robert Mawyer and his mother and step-father, Bernice and Guy Baugh.
He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1973; he is a Vietnam veteran. He then worked for Optical Coating for 30 years before he retired.
Bobby attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School and remained connected to the Petaluma area throughout his life. He was a proud member of the Petaluma Druids, Petaluma Elks, Sons in Retirement, Native Sons of the Golden West, Sonoma County Trail Blazers, the Corda Gun Club and member of St. James Parish.
Bobby’s favorite activities were hunting and fishing with his family and buddies. He treasured the time spent outdoors, the camaraderie of good friends, and the many memories made along the way.
Bobby’s family and friends will remember him with affection and gratitude for the life he shared with them.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on August 24, 2026, between 5:00-7:00p.m. with a rosary at 6:00p.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crematory; 850 Keokuk Street in Petaluma, CA. Funeral mass on August 25, 2026, at 11:00a.m. at St. James Catholic Church; 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway in Petaluma, CA.
In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice of Petaluma or St. James Catholic Church are appreciated.
