Robert "Bob" Burbank

March 2, 1947 — January 2, 2021

Robert "Bob" Burbank, long time resident and rancher of Tomales, was born on March 2nd 1947. Bob passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 2nd 2021. Bob lost his long battle with heart complications.

Bob grew up the only boy of five children. He lived and worked the family ranch that he dreamed, one day would be his. Bob was able to make connections with everyone he met, and he made a big impression. Bob had a wealth of knowledge of ranching, mechanics, and community history. He never hesitated to pass along his knowledge in the form of a detailed story that went on and on... Bob created an amazing life for himself with the constant support of his wife, of over 51 years, Linda. They completed their family portrait with their two sons, Darren and Kyle.  Bob loved his boys. Nothing gave him more pride than to cheer on his sons and their teammates in sports and later on as coaches. Bob and Linda opened their hearts and their home to all the friends that Darren and Kyle brought home and they became family.  Bob worked tirelessly as a rancher and as a heavy equipment mechanic for the county of Marin. He retired from the county after 36 years, in 2004 and devoted his time to the ranch. Bob passed his love of the land over to his sons.  The loss of his son Darren, 16 years ago, changed the dream. Bob's grateful attitude to honor his son, was nothing short of wholehearted love. Our extended family was the gift Darren left us. No one played cards or made dear sausage quite like Bob. He always had a story to tell and could recall every detail of the past games played and batches of sausage made.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walt and Anna Burbank and his eldest son Darren Burbank. Bob is survived by his loving wife Linda, son Kyle (Felicia), daughter Jean-Marie (Jeremy), and Grandchildren, Isaiah, Maddison, and Wyatt. As well as all the other people he called family.  There will be a viewing service at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary on Friday, January 8th 2021, from 11-12:30. We understand the times we are in, and we know that we need to be safe in the times of COVID, if you don't feel comfortable paying your respects in person, we as a family, understand. A private, family burial will be held at the Presbyterian cemetery. We are asking, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Darren Burbank Memorial Scholarship. A cause so close to Bob's heart.  Make checks payable to Darren Burbank Memorial Scholarship: P.O. Box 126 Tomales, Ca. 94971 .
