Robert Jay Hughes "Bobby" was taken from us on Wednesday morning August 10th, 2016 in a horrific traffic collision about a week before his 42nd birthday. He was born in Redwood City on August 19th, 1974, to James and Sonia Hughes. Bobby was one of three children in the family. He is survived by his mother and father Sonia M. and James J. Hughes, his sister Sonia, his brother James and his maternal grandmother Eloisa J. Vasquez. He was a giving, warm and loving uncle to Ryan J Hughes (his godson) and Casey J Hughes. He was a true friend and caring cousin to Pauly, Eric and Monique Villeggiante, Victor and Matthew Vasquez, Steven and Joe Aguilar. He was the beloved nephew of Paul and Sandra Villeggiante, Manuel Vasquez, William Hughes, Elizabeth Howland, Fred and Miki Bliss and Marguarite Aguilar. He had a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will dearly miss his warm and charismatic character. Bobby attended Bernard Eldridge Elementary School, Kenilworth Junior High, Casa Grande High School and following his graduation he attended Merritt Junior College in Oakland. Bobby worked so well with his hands that he began to work in the construction field ultimately to painting and he became a treasured worker. He had an infectious smile and lit up the room when he came into it. He could take anyone from a place of sadness to laughter and joy. He got along with everyone and was a strong and forgiving man. Bobby possessed a keen wit and was a master of sarcasm. He could deliver zingers with the best of them. When you knew he was about to deliver one, you just hoped it wasn't aimed at you. He loved to travel with his family and friends and found joy laughter and new friends everywhere he traveled, be it Hawaii, Cancun, Cozumel, the Bahamas, St John, or Belize. Bobby was devoted to his mother, sister and grandmother until the very end and they meant more to him than anything on Earth. Rest in peace, Bobby. Know that we love you and we miss you.
