It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of ROBERT J. PERRY, known to many as Bob Perry, 73. He died February 11th after living with cancer for over 30 years.
Bob was born August 14,1942 in Sonoma County to William and Jean (Arnell) Perry and grew up in Petaluma. He graduated from Petaluma High School in 1961 and served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was a retired PG&E pressure operator and life-long resident of Northern California. An avid outdoorsman and a particularly good fisherman, he was well versed in the many rivers and lagoons of coastal northern California. He also enjoyed hunting and dancing, and was an accomplished carpenter.
Bob was determined to live life to its fullest and was active in his community. As a young man he raced motorcycles and was part of a pit crew for a stock car. He was volunteer coach of youth sports for many years. He was the former Governor of the Santa Rosa Moose Lodge. He was a man that could do just about anything when put to the test.
Bob fought cancer since 1985 and survived many reoccurrences during the last 30 years. As a survivor, he was a dedicated supporter of the American Cancer Society and a driving force with The Relay for Life since its inception and was an inspirational speaker at Living With Cancer events.
He is survived by his son, Ron (Julie) and daughter, Emily (Josh) Murphy, his four grandchildren, Madison, Rachel, Alley and Sinead, his siblings, Shirley, Adrienne, Leo, Jim, Judy and Norene as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a wonderful community of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Minnie Faulk.
